Energy Therapies
Attention to the mind and spirit is as necessary to full healing and recovery as is attention to the body. Solace at Suite 640 offers four energy therapies to refresh your mind and spirit - Healing Touch, Reiki, Integrated Energy Therapy, and Heart Centered Therapy.
Healing Touch
Healing Touch is a program of energy therapies which focus on restoring balance to the body's energy system. Many techniques are included in the Healing Touch training program -- Therapeutic Touch, chakra balancing, magnetic unruffling, and the Hopi Indian technique are a few ways to address disturbances in the energy field.
Principles of Healing Touch
- The world and everything in it are interdependent.
- A woman's health and quality of life are affected by the health and quality of her energy system.
- The energy system is influenced by the environment, thought, actions and emotions of the self and others.
- All life experiences, both positive and negative, are recorded and stored in the energy system.
- Potential illness appears in the energy system before physical signs appear.
- The healing act is a sacred process.
- Healing takes place within the self, and it is a joint effort on the part of both giver and receiver.
Benefits
Research has shown that Healing Touch can be effective in treating many forms of discomfort. It can be used in any setting and situation. Here are some examples: pain reduction and relief; stress and anxiety reduction; accelerated healing processes such as wound healing, fighting infection, fracture mending; enhanced immunity; improved energy levels; complication prevention when done pre and post-surgery; improved hormonal balance; improved bowel function; memory and emotional release; and improvements in outcomes when used as a complement to chemotherapy.
The Healing Touch session takes place with the client lying on a table, fully clothed. A session lasts about an hour.
Janet Mentgen, R.N., B.S.N. developed the HT program. She trained nurses and other interested people in HT for many years, and her techniques are widely used in hospitals and health care settings.
Reiki
Reiki translates from the Japanese words "Rei" and "Ki" to mean "Universal Life Energy." It is an ancient healing system of laying on of the hands. It was widely known in Tibet for its healing qualities. In the mid 1800's, a Christian monk in Japan, Dr. Mikao Usui, re-introduced Reiki as a healing modality.
Reiki energy comes from the universal divine Source. The Reiki practitioner receives an attunement from her teacher during training to allow her to receive and channel the energy to the client.
During a Reiki session, the client lies on a table, fully clothed, as the practitioner lays hands in the various body locations to allow the energy to flow.
The Reiki energy gently cleanses blocked energy pathways of the chakra and meridian systems. These energy systems of the body are thereby balanced, and harmony is restored.
Effects on the client can vary, but it is very common for the client to completely relax, be at ease and at peace. It may reduce pain and the healing process may be accelerated.
Reiki, as well as the other energy therapies offered by Solace at Suite 640, may be used as a complement to any therapy the client is receiving. Western medicine, as well as other complementary therapies are enhanced by this gentle and effective technique.
Reiki is safe and there are no known contraindications for it. All conditions, whether they are acute or chronic problems, may benefit.
Integrated Energy Therapy (IET)
Integrated Energy Therapy is a modality which allows the client to release blocked emotions from the tissues of her body.
It has been widely written and known that "all life experiences, both positive and negative, are recorded and stored in the energy system." (Principles of Healing Touch, Janet Mentgen, R.N.) IET's philosophy goes one step further to propose that our emotions are actually stored in the cells of the body's tissues. This modality was developed by Steven Thayer in the 1980s. IET focuses on the stored emotions, and helps the client release past traumas, attitudes or beliefs.
Integrated Energy Therapy is similar to Reiki in that the practitioner "lays hands" on various body locations and channels energy from the divine Source to the client. The next step is to help her engage her spiritual support system in the active intention of clearing out the area and re-energizing the tissue. This restores balance. A common motto for IET is, "it gets the issues out of your tissues!" An IET session takes place with the client lying on a table, fully clothed. The session lasts about 60 minutes.
Heart Centered Therapy
Heart Centered Therapy is a deep yet gentle inner dialogue in a guided meditative format. A woman might try an HCT session when she's feeling sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. It will help her clarify the possible emotional root cause of her physical symptoms. This insight then allows her to release the old pattern.
The individual feels totally supported and safe, allowing her to be able to receive higher information from the wisdom of her heart - this is the basis for the name Heart Centered Therapy. Truth and healing emerges, and the woman is empowered to claim her authenticity. The unhurried process facilitates deep levels of healing and transformation. A session lasts about 2 hours with the client laying on the table fully clothed.
HCT's founder, Alaya Chickly, first started using HCT as an adjunct to lymphatic drainage therapy, but it may be useful for anyone who truly wants to effect a change in her life.
